Our Standards
Natural Standards
IMO, a respected, independent Swiss third-party organization, audits and inspects our methods, practices, and techniques to assure they meet our natural standards. We are tracked, surveyed, interviewed, and documented to demonstrate our compliance with the most stringent standards of sustainability.
Among the components monitored are farm siting and land use zoning; environmental assessments/reviews; concentrations of PCBs, TEQs (dioxins, furans, and dioxin-like PCBs), and mercury in fish; water quality; movement and quarantine of animals to prevent introduction of exotic species; effluent discharges and monitoring requirements; fish escapes; predator control; disease treatment; processing facilities; human health and safety; labor rights; and local community involvement.
Organic Certification
Independent third-party organizations such as the respected Norwegian body Debio certify that our methods, practices, and techniques are in compliance with organic standards. Certification officials inspect, track, audit, and monitor all our operations and practices, paying particular attention to our use of certified organic feed for any Blue Circle seafood considered organic. In addition, we steadfastly comply with the lower stocking densities that organic aquaculture entities require.
