OUR STANDARDS

Responsibly Farmed Standards

IMO, a respected, independent Swiss third-party organization, audits and inspects our methods, practices, and techniques to assure they meet our responsibly farmed standards. We are tracked, surveyed, interviewed, and documented to demonstrate our compliance with the most stringent standards of sustainability.

Among the components monitored are farm siting and land use zoning: environmental assessments/reviews: concentrations of PCB's, TEQ's (dioxins, furans, and dioxin-like PCBs), and mercury in fish: water quality; movement and quarantine of animals to prevent introduction of exotic species; effluent discharges and monitoring requirements; fish escapes; predator control; disease treatment; processing facilities; human health and safety; labor rights; and local community involvement.

Trace Register

At Trace Register we believe that digital traceability and analytics begin and end with people. The technology is incredible and can do many things, but it is people who decide how it is used and who it impact. Their motives, concerns and desires influence what objectives they set and the insights they seek. Their actions determine how well their supply chains perform and resulting consumer satisfaction. For traceability to help deliver consistently good food, it is necessary to consider people.

Monterey Bay Aquarium's Seafood Watch

The Monterey Bay Aquarium's Seafood Watch program helps consumers and businesses choose seafood that's fished or farmed in ways that protect sea life and habitats, now and for future generations. Our recommendations indicate which seafood items are "Best Choices" or "Good Alternatives," and which ones you should "Avoid."

We raise public awareness about sustainable seafood issues through our consumer guides, website, mobile apps and outreach efforts. Since 1999, we've distributed over 45 million consumer guides and our smartphone app has been downloaded over a million times. We also encourage restaurants, distributors and seafood purveyors to purchase from sustainable sources. We have over 200 partners across North America, including two of the largest food service companies in the U.S.
