Soy Steamed Cod

Soy Steamed Cod
Steamed Cod is a staple that belongs in your dinner rotation: healthy, customizable, and ready in less than 20 minutes. This recipe is based on Cantonese steamed fish and Japanese nitsuke: two homey dishes meant to be shared with the ones you love on any ol' weeknight.

Ingredients

  • 2 portions Blue Circle Foods Wild-Caught Icelandic Cod, thawed
  • 4 tbsp soy sauce
  • 4 tbsp water
  • 4 tbsp sugar
  • 4 tbsp sake (optional)
  • handful of cilantro, roughly chopped
  • 3 green onions, chopped into 2-inch pieces
  • 2-inch piece fresh ginger root, julienned

Instructions

  1. Fill a large pot or steamer base with 2 inches of water. Place over high heat and bring to a boil.
  2. Meanwhile, combine soy sauce, water, sugar, and sake (if using) to make a soy-based sauce. Adjust to taste.
  3. Add the soy-based sauce, cod, and aromatics to a steamer-safe dish that fits into the steamer basket.
  4. Steam for 15 minutes, until fish is flaky and aromatic.
  5. Top with extra cilantro and green onions, if desired.
  6. Serve with a bowl of hot steamed rice and enjoy.
